embarrassingly late

Happy Valentines Day!

You might have just received my Christmas card in the mail, that I remade into a Valentines card so they didn't all go to waste.  Obviously, the holiday season was a little busy for me.  But hey...better late than never!

This was our original card-

I had my friend Jenny (who desigend the cards in the first place) help me doctor them up.  Travis is embarrassed that we are even sending them out because it is SO late & Holden still hates my guts for making this picture into a card but.... I'm doing my best.  Next Christmas is going to be better.... because I am not going to procrastinate on anything AND I'm not going to move the week of Thanksgiving!!!

P.S.  See that picture way up in the left hand corner? That is Holden's friend Conner in the background (Jenny's son).   I had it printed for our photo wall because seriously no matter how many times I look at it, it always makes me laugh.  Jenny and I titled it, THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING. It seriously does. Hilarious!!!

happy birthday nicholas!

Happy Happy Birthday to Nicholas T, Cokalas, Nicky T, or Nic  today! It's his 12th birthday!   I did not prepare for his birthday to say the least, although we have been talking about it since about the day after Christmas.  Nic always thinks long and hard about his birthdays and what he would like.  Unfortunately the main reason for my unpreparedness is that I could not grant him a single birthday wish he REALLY wanted.  They were #1) a rifle, #2) a dog or #3) a motorcycle. We have finally agreed that a new bike would work for both of us.   We are headed out to do some birthday shopping. Hopefully we can find the bike that he wants!

P.S. I guess this kid is growing up or changing or something...he didn't even make a single request for bacon!

this week

These are the coming and goings of the past week-

Travis' parents came to AZ! This is their first trip to visit us since we moved to Arizona so we were both shocked and excited.  Austin couldn't wait and stood outside after school for almost 2 hours waiting for them to arrive.  He made this cute sign.

Interpretation for anyone who doesn't speak Austin.  Hurrah! Hurrah! Grandma & Grandpa & Daniel  rip boob baa (which I cannot interpret).

They got a little turned around so it took them awhile to find our house but when they did we had a mini-Coronado reunion waiting for them.  This is the only picture we have of the entire weekend.

Holden wrapped up his Junior High Wrestling Season with the District Tournament on Tuesday and took 2nd PLACE!!!

 

The kid on the left that he lost to, was 10-0 for the season and a super good wrestler.  Holden had a great first match against the kid on the right, the second match wasn't so good but he felt very good about the season.  It was the first time he has wrestled since 1st grade. There were 5 kids total in the district in his weight class of 73 pounds. That's 67 pounds of pure muscle on Holden!

I've been reading this book.

I won't go into too much but I have been stewing over this problem in our family for over a year now.  Too many things and activities that cause me to be stretched too thin creating a monster mom. When I started reading it was like a heard angels singing AAHH AAHHH AAAHH and felt the lights in my head beam to full brightness.  What the author was saying was EXACTLY how I felt and the problems she explains that come from our lifestyle were EXACTLY the problems I am seeing.  Our family has become time-starved.  I am trying to eek little bits of what I am learning into the family because not all are as excited about this epiphany as I am .

 

Something I'm trying to learn is the word "NO".  I put this quote up on our chalkboard.  Love it!

 

One last thing to share-

Austin has been really into sign making lately and this one is just too cute not to remember. He made this one for his friend Rock.  He said anytime Rock is going to come over to play, he is going to stick it up in the front yard.

This one says- Hurrah Rock, Hurrah Rock, Your my BFF, Go Rock, peep like a chick, bawk like a chicken, moo like a cow!  (Rock lives on a mini-farm and Austin LOVES to go over there and play with the animals)

 

Just one more thing, I promise this is the last-

Sickness has hit our family for round two this winter.  Austin got sent home on Tuesday from school with a high fever. He laid like this for a day and a half.  Now it's Chloe's turn. :(

Chloe got her braces off yesterday! Here are the before and afters-
