strawberry cereal

Strawberry Cereal
a recipe by Austin Garza

take 4 strawberries and slice them up, put into a cereal bowl
sprinkle with sugar
pour milk over strawberries
put one drop of red food coloring into bowl and stir (sometimes I get crazy and use blue food coloring)

Eat several times a day. Enjoy!

idaho, a baby, a baptism, nic's b-day part I & II...

a potato field in Idaho
Nicholas, Austin and I went to Idaho last weekend for a visit.  We went for several reasons-
  1. to celebrate Nic's 10th Birthday
  2. to attend Emmaline's baptism
  3. to see my new niece Sophie
  4. to get my hair done
  5. to see the family
We got everything on the list accomplished and had a great time!

I took so many pictures I will have to go in chronological order to get them all covered.

FRIDAY
Nic went skiing with Grandpa, Sadie, Abigail, and James up at Kelly Canyon. Austin and I stayed home to cuddle with new little-

SATURDAY

Emmaline got baptized!
Lacey did her hair in a special do-

Emmaline played the violin and Isabelle, Alexis, Lauren and Michael sang "When I am Baptized".  Emmaline is sure one popular girl she had about 50 people there just to see HER!

Afterwards she had a very nice luncheon.

Emmaline with her sisters- Abigail, Sadie and Isabelle.

CONGRATULATIONS EMMALINE!
Austin and Nic spent the rest of the afternoon sledding in Grandma & Grandpa's backyard.

And here is a lucky shot of Nic catching big air on the jump.
What you can't see is the "after" of this picture.  Nic land hard on his bottom and had to lay there to recoup for a few minutes.  I kept yelling for him to come down and see the awesome picture I got but he just lay there ignoring me with a hurting rear.

After the sledding, we all went to pizza to celebrate Nic's birthday, PART I.  He brought along a couple of his long lost Idaho friends.

Here is a deer we saw in my parent's yard.  I guess they have had deer galore this year and they even had a moose the day before we got there.  Everytime Max barked they ran to the window hoping the moose would return while we were visiting but it didn't.

SUNDAY

We went to church, went out to Shelley to visit Grandma & Grandpa Garza and then went to David & Melissa's that night.

Sunday afternoon- Austin, Luke and Michael battle it out with their light sabers while Grandpa snoozes away.

I tried to get a picture of this silly girl who would not cooperate!

Uncle Tracy gave Nicholas 2 sets of boxing gloves for his birthday PART II and gave him a boxing lesson to go with it.  We don't really need any accessories to go with the fights that go on around here but the boys will have fun with the gloves. For some reason I only have a picture with Austin wearing them.

Grandpa Garza made this awesome sling-shot out of a deer antler that Nic found up on the hillside.

He then waited on the couch for me to bring down his big BIRTHDAY PRESENT. Birthday Part 3.

He got a remote control airplane that he has been begging for for about a year now.  He was very happy.  To figure out  how to get it back to Arizona was the problem...but it is here.

Then for birthday part 17 we went to Uncle David's and Aunt Melissa's where he had another birthday celebration.

And watched a little bit of football.  Since this year's superbowl didn't involve any Garza favorite teams, nobody cared too much about it.  Notice Nic is faithfully wearing his "Sunday" Dallas Cowboys shirt even if the Packers and the Steelers are the teams playing.  Austin LOVED the half time show and has watched it on the internet about 20 times since Sunday.  I will have to say it was some pretty good music.  Dad couldn't take the abomination though and had to go upstairs.

MONDAY

Sadly, it was time to return home to Arizona once again.  I think I was a little anxious this time to return to the sunny weather.  I must be adapting or it is just Idaho in February-need I say more.

 Heading Home.

nic is 10!

We have been celebrating Nicholas' birthday for about 5 or 6 days now, but today is the REAL thing!  Remember about 7 months ago I posted this about Nic wanting bacon for his birthday.  Well this morning I granted his request with 1 pound of bacon.
He wanted to sit on the couch and watch the Military Chanel while eating it- to which I told him, no.  Travis also convinced him to share the bacon or he would probably be sick at school.  He did. But when I picked him up from school to take him out to a birthday lunch, he choose Five Guys, where he ordered his favorite bacon dog.

I will have to cover Nic's extended birthday celebration in another post, but for now Happy Birthday Nicholas, we love you very much!

a love note

Holden came home from school yesterday with this note-

Dear Holden,

I hope you like this.  I just wanted to tell you it was made from the heart. You are the most hottest boy I have ever known.  Happy Valentines!

Love, Keona Brown

AND a duct tape rose.  Who knew that Keona Brown reads my blog?  Just kidding she is just a girl in Holden's class that obviously has a crush on him.  I applaud her bravery.  Holden just rolls his eyes.

P.S.  She even sprayed perfume on the rose.
